Herbal Remedies for Sport Injuries

ABSTRACT

Sports are a daily routine in the life of most people. A person may get various injuries while playing that can be mild to severe. Minor injuries are treated at home and do not require further treatment, while severe injuries may require special investigations and treatment. Some minor injuries if left untreated may cause several consequences over time. Thus proper ruling out and management of Sports Injuries is a must. In this article, we will look at various types and symptoms of sports injuries. We will also discuss its management in Ayurveda.

Sport Injury

INTRODUCTION

Sports injuries are injuries that occur while playing any sport. That may include hand, foot, muscle, joints, and bone injuries. Injuries are caused by the application of direct force that is greater than the body part can structurally withstand.

PRODUCTS DESCRIPTION

1. Boswellia Curcumin Capsules

These capsules are a combination of Curcumin (Curcuma longa) and Shallaki (Boswellia serrata). The anti-inflammatory property of these capsules reduces swelling in the body. Dosage - Take 2 capsules two times daily.

4. Jatyadi Tailam

This medicated oil is prepared with Turmeric (Curcuma longa), Neem (Azadirachta indica), Chameli (Jasminum officinale), Patola patra (Stereospermum chelonoides), Katuki (Picrorhiza kurroa), Lodhra (Symplocos racemosa), etc. The oil has wound-healing properties when applied externally to the affected area. Applying this oil will reduce swelling and pain in the particular region.

Dosage - Apply over the affected area twice daily by mixing with orthovita oil.

5. Orthovita Oil

Massaging the joint with this oil helps relieve pain along with the reduction in joint stiffness. In case of loss of synovial fluid, this oil will add lubrication to the joint. It is composed of saindhavadi tail, turpentine oil, gandhapura, etc. This will strengthen the muscles and reduce muscle spasms too.

Dosage - Do a local massage with oil for 10 to 15 minutes by mixing it with jatyadi tailam.
