Treatment of Strongyloides Stercoralis Hyperinfection Syndrome in Ayurveda

Strongyloides Stercoralis Hyperinfection might sound strange and totally a new concept, but this pathogen and its manifestation has been a part of human civilization since the dawn of mankind, probably it had fewer prevalence then, but is always of greater mortality now. It is usually found across the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Strongyloidse Stercolias is a chronic infection seen in the gastrointestinal tract, but its symptoms reach up to all systemic innervations, including the skin. It is caused due to the infection of the female nematode of Strongyloides Stercoralis parasite. A condition where there are episodes of repeated reinfection in the host due to reestablishment of the life cycle of the pathogen is termed as hyper infection, which is the case with this type of infection. As the name suggests, the term Syndrome is a collection of symptoms which is characteristic to this disease.

Strongyloides Stercoralis Hyperinfection Syndrome

As mentioned above, the infection is caused by the strongyloides pathogen. The exact pathway of infection is still unclear but many scientists believe that it occurs on contact with contaminated soil on bare or with wounded appendages. It is believed to have two stages in its life cycle, of which one occurs outside the body of the host, while the other occurs inside the host tissues.

The symptoms of Strongyloides hyperinfection are similar to that of simple strongyloides infection including nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhoea, Weight loss, Abdominal pain, Haemorrhage in Gastrointestinal tract, cough, fever and dyspnea. Considering the excess pathogenic load in hyper infection some catastrophic clinical features like disseminated intravascular coagulation, meningitis, renal failure or even respiratory failure 1 may be observed in chronic patients.

The hyperinfection of the pathogen may be due to frequent contacts in enteral circulation by contact of contaminated finger or nail with food or directly to the mouth. Faeco-oral route is also an important way to establish repetition, thus parasites can remain in the human body for the remainder of the host's life.

Ayurveda In Strongyloides Hyperinfection

The age-old science of life, Ayurveda considers the doshic status or the involvement of entities as the diagnostic criteria for the identification of diseases. Even though the exact correlation for contemporary diseases may not be explained in the authentic texts, the closest correlation with respect to the symptomology with the doshas can be used to diagnose the disease. The concept of strongyloides may be most similar to that of Krimi Vyadhi in Ayurveda.

How to Lose Weight in 30 days with safe Ayurvedic treatment?

The late hibernal season can be synonymous with weight loss goals. The impending pandemic has brought about a stay-at-home routine that left us all pleasing ourselves with food and inventive cooking binges. The fallout of all these being more people overblown with obesity and associated disturbances. This has brought about an immense demand for weight loss routines and plans. Obesity and related disorders have become a huge concern like never before. On that account, the Ayurvedic approach towards weight loss is gaining huge interest.

Ayurveda insists that the derangement of Kapha dosha is the lead cause of obesity. Those with Kapha dominant constitution are more likely to be obese than those with Vata or Pitta predominance. Acharya Caraka described obesity to be one among the undesired conditions of the body. It occurs when a surge in Kapha dosha is associated with a hindrance to fat metabolism.

Weight loss

According to Ayurveda, weight gain is a patterned process. The foremost affective factor towards weight gain is disturbance to the digestive fire caused from one’s dietary and lifestyle habits. This leads to improper digestion and eventually causes accumulation of toxins within the body system. The natural metabolism is hampered and as a result of which, more fatty tissues are formed within the body. There is a surge in Kapha dosha. Further ahead, the accumulated toxins occlude the body channels that results in Vata imbalance. This triggers the digestive fire, which further leads to increased appetite, contributing even more to obesity. The root cause for all of this may be attributed to weak fat metabolism and deranged digestive fire.

According to Ayurvedic principles, prevention and management of diseases depends largely on body weight management. That being the case, Ayurveda put forth a sustainable, person centric and holistic approach towards weight loss, the approach being dependent on an individual’s state of health, mental and emotional well-being, dietary and lifestyle habits. The root cause of weight gain is addressed along with associated complications. Following an Ayurvedic dietary and lifestyle regime adds to the outcome. All these concomitantly being Ayurveda’s edge in attaining the weight loss goals.

The lead cause of obesity is lifestyle disorders like Type 2 Diabetes, Kidney disorders, Cardiac diseases, etc. So, the initial step towards weight loss must be to bring the lifestyle disorders under control so that the body's metabolism functions without error. This can be made possible through a proper dietary and lifestyle regime.

Specific dietary regime varies according to the individual body constitution. However, an Ayurvedic weight loss must always be Kapha- pacifying that is low in fat and calories. Include more light, warm, pungent and astringent foods in the diet. Focus on a diet that is rich in proteins so that one can attain early satiety. Oily and sweet foods must be avoided. Wheat, barley, millets, oats, etc always aids in weight loss and can be included in the diet. High fibre containing leafy vegetables are a must. Try including carrots, broccoli, lentils and legumes. Apples, pears, and berries are also a fitting choice. Incorporate warming spices like pepper, ginger, cardamom, cumin, etc. in the diet. Use churned buttermilk instead of yoghurt. Avoid junk foods and canned foods. Caffeinated and aerated drinks must also be refrained from. Having warm water early in the morning with honey or lemon on an empty stomach aids in detoxification. Take meals at regular intervals and avoid intermittent snacking. Eat in moderate portion sizes. Sip hot water regularly as hot water is an elixir that assists in detoxification.

Proper sleep is of paramount importance. Try avoiding daytime sleep as that can lead to a surge in the Kapha dosha. Make daily exercise and meditation a habit. Exercise makes the body light and boosts up the energy levels. It also helps in beating other pathologies of the body system. It is equally important to focus on stress reduction while you are on a weight loss lifestyle regime. Stress and strain of body and mind always exacerbates weight gain. Avoid smoking and intake of alcohol as they may derange the body functions. Get rid of all the sedentary habits and be more active and happy.

Regular practicing of yoga and meditations can be of great help towards weight loss. Yoga boosts up the body's metabolism and ultimately aids in weight loss. Follow specific asanas like Surya Namaskar (Sun salutation), Bhujangasana (Cobra pose), Paschimottanasana (Back stretching pose), Trikonasana (Triangle pose), etc. Breathing exercises like Kapal Bhati (Shining skull breathing), Nadi Shodhana (Alternate nostril breathing), Bhastrika (Bellow breathing), etc. are also beneficial towards weight loss.

Ayurvedic therapies provide a deep and comprehensive detoxification. Palliative and purificatory therapies are employed. The therapies that exclusively work towards weight loss are Udhvartana (herbal powder massage), Mardana (Dry massage), Swedana (Herbal steam bath), Abhyanga (Oil massage), Virechana (Therapeutic purgation), Vasti (Therapeutic enema), etc. Massaging with herbal powders alleviates the fat tissues. The oils employed in oil massage opens up the clogged pores in the body. This further increases the body temperature and augments the fat metabolism.

The single drug formulations that aids at weight loss are Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Vidanga (Embelia ribes), Musta (Cyperus rotundus), Sunthi (Zingiber officinale), Amla (Phyllanthus emblica), Vacha (Acorus calamus), Guggulu (Commiphora wightii), etc.

Besides the above Ayurvedic therapies for local application to attain weight loss, there are some amazing herbs also, those aid in weight loss if taken regularly under proper guidance of Ayurveda Experts. For convenient use and easy intake of these herbs, Planet Ayurveda has summed them all in a pack named as Thinner You Pack. Herbal Remedies for Atrophic Pancreas

Atrophic pancreas is a disease which is kept under the category of non specific ailments. The condition is commonly observed in elderly individuals. Atrophy is a term which medically means partial or complete wasting of a specific part, organ or muscle of the body. In atrophy there is a gradual reduction in the size of cells, tissue and finally the associated organ. Atrophy is generally a physiological process of reabsorption and finally the breakdown of tissues including apoptosis. In case, if this atrophy is noticed to have association with any pathology then it is termed as pathological atrophy. In pancreatic atrophy or atrophic pancreas there is significant reduction in size and number of cells thus hampering the functioning of this article we will mainly discuss atrophic pancreas and it’s management using Ayurvedic preparations.

Atrophic Pancreas

Atrophic pancreas is defined as the irreversible degeneration of the pancreas. The disease is generally associated with chronic pancreatitis which involves inflammation of pancreas, mostly as the result of regular alcohol consumption. This condition is a long standing inflammation of the pancreas and hence alters the normal functioning of the pancreas. The inflammation can be acute or chronic. In chronic inflammation reversible changes in pancreatic parenchyma are observed and in chronic cases irreversible changes in pancreas are noticed. Thus, pancreatic inflammation can lead to permanent scarring and damage to organ tissue and hence results in shrinkage of the pancreas or pancreatic cells.

The usual cause of Atrophy is ischemia due to atherosclerosis of the pancreatic arteries. Under such circumstances, the parenchymal atrophy affects both the endocrine and the exocrine elements but is usually minimal and of little functioning significance. Most often, there is only an increase of Stromal connective tissue without obvious loss of pancreatic substance. The most common cause for this condition is regular alcohol consumption and other causes may include:

  • Chronic protein deficiency like in kwashiorkor or protein losing enteropathy
  • Obstruction in pancreatic ducts: In this form, the islets of langerhans are totally spared, but the exocrine glands undergo progressive disuse or pressure atrophy to the point of total disappearance
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Pancreatic injuries
  • Gallstones
  • High lipid profile
  • Infections
  • Injury to pancreas
  • Congenital stenosis or atresia of ducts
  • Stenosis of ducts
  • Surgical ligature of ducts
  • Squamous metaplasia

The symptoms take time to appear in this case. At first you might have any symptoms but with time as the changes advances you might suffer from following symptoms:

  • Acute pain in abdomen (Lt. lumbar area usually)
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Shortness of breath
  • Weight loss
  • Oil or smelly stools (Steatorrhea)
  • Imbalance insulin levels in body

The risk factors might include the patients having pancreatitis or have history of pancreatic inflammation. Moreover the same condition can take place in daibetic patients also. The person with family history of atrophy pancreas are also at risk for developing the same condition.

Certain tests are generally performed to confirm the diagnosis. The tests are as follows:

  1. Whole abdomen ultrasonography (USG)
  2. Computed tomography (CT- Scan)
  3. Magnetic imaging resonance (MRI)

In modern times, the treatment can be done using a wide range of antibiotics. Basically, the prime aim should be treatment of pancreatitis as prolonged pancreatic infection can lead to atrophy of pancreas. But, if the atrophy is due to any underlying cause then the treatment of cause is must.

Skin Cancer in Dogs and Ayurvedic Treatment

Dog's might be the most loyal friend of humans in today's world. They are naturally loving and passionate. Bond between humans and dogs has been very strong since centuries. Dogs play with us, sleep with us, guard our house from trespassers and stay loyal with us. So, we can consider dogs as the most good or loyal friend of humans. But under bad circumstances, dogs get attacked by cancer of skin which affects their health and daily activities. In this article, we will discuss skin cancer in dogs and how one can manage this with Ayurvedic treatment.

Skin Cancer in Dogs

Skin cancer in dogs can be defined as the uncontrolled and abnormal growth of cells at the surface of skin in dogs. Similar to human beings, a type of skin cancer in dogs i.e. malignant melanoma can affect the pigmented cells called melanocytes. Usually in dogs, benign tumors develop in melanocytomas which are pigmented cells that don’t metastasize. Some types of dog skin cancer including mast cell tumors and dog melanomas can be severe if remain untreated at the correct time.

Most of the time, skin cancer remains unknown to the owners because a large portion of the dog’s skin is covered with hairs. These hairs help the dogs to get protection from the harmful sun rays which can also develop the skin cancer in them. But all dogs have certain areas where the hairs are very less or absent for giving protection to the sensitive skin from the sun rays. For example, the area around the ears and the nose.

Skin cancer in dogs is classified into several categories. Let's discuss major three types:

1. Malignant Melanoma

In this type of dog skin cancer, mainly the melanocytes are affected which are pigmented cells. Benign tumors begin to develop in the pigmented cells that don’t metastasize. These cells are also known as melanocytomas. Malignant melanoma can also affect the parts of dog skin which have hairs. Mostly it occurs in the mouth or mucous membranes and can grow fast and gets spread into other organs such as the liver and the lungs.

The exact cause of malignant melanoma is not known, but genetic factors and extreme licking on the same spot of the skin may develop skin cancer.

2. Squamous Cell Carcinoma

This type of dog skin cancer is very common and mostly caused by extreme exposure to the harmful sun rays. That is why dogs with light skin, or without hairs are at increased risk of developing this cancer. Researchers observe that there may be a connective link between development of squamous cell tumors and papilloma virus in several dogs. Undergoing this type of cancer can also affect the lungs and interferes with their normal functioning.

3. Mast Cell Tumors

This type is also very common in dog skin cancer and affects many dogs. Basically, mast cells are used to release histamine which is a chemical responsible to cause symptoms of allergy such as itching and irritation in humans as well as in dogs. In mast cell tumors, tumors are developed in mast cells and can grow in any part of a dog's skin or internal organs also. The most common affected areas of mast cell tumors are chest, lower abdomen and the limbs.

Other two types of dog skin cancer are Fibrosarcoma and Histiocytic Cell Tumor.

The exact cause of dog skin cancer is still unknown. But scientists believe that the following factors may cause skin cancer in dogs:

  1. Extreme exposure to sun
  2. Hormone abnormalities
  3. Infections from certain viruses
  4. Genetic factors
  5. Exposure to harmful toxic substances

Signs and symptoms of skin cancer vary depending on the type and location of the cancer. But some major symptoms are:

  • Presence of hard lump of gray, red, black or brown colored on the skin
  • Pain sensation when touching the lumps
  • Extremely fast growth of tumors
  • Firm, raised wart like blemishes
  • Some growths are slow and rubbery
  • Difficulty in walking
  • Change in behavior of dog

Several complications may rise when the dog is suffering through skin cancer, which are:

  • If tumors develop in the feet of the dog, then he must have difficulty in walking.
  • Inflammation due to skin cancer may put the dog in painful condition.
  • Dog’s activities are decreased and they become less capable of doing their work which is guarding your house.

  1. First needle aspiration
  2. Biopsy - In biopsy, the part of mass is removed from the lump and further processed to the laboratory for examination.
  3. X-ray - An image of the affected area is taken by doing X-ray. This image will give an idea to the doctor if any tissue mass is present beneath the skin.

There is no exact treatment of dog skin cancer in modern science. Chemotherapies, radiation therapies, surgeries are done to the dogs, which is not a safer or permanent treatment. Undergoing these treatment methods will raise several other side-effects as well as develop the tumor again after some time. So, it is not wise to go with modern science for the treatment of cancer in your dog.

Herbal Remedies For Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy

Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy is also referred to as idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis and is relatively a common disorder. It is one of the significant causes of sudden death in young people, especially well-trained athletes, affecting both women and men equally. In most patients, it results from asymmetrical septal hypertrophy resulting in a restricted outflow of the left ventricle. It is one of the disorders which is difficult to diagnose but can be managed if diagnosed on time. In this article, we are going to discuss Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy in detail and its treatment through herbal medicine.

Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy

Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy is a disease where the muscles of the heart become abnormally thick. The thick walls of the heart make it difficult for them to pump blood. There are times that it is mostly undiagnosed as many people with this disease live a normal life without facing any problem. However, there are people with Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy who might suffer from some common signs like pain in the chest, shortness of breath, and problems in the electric system of the heart. This can eventually result in a life-threatening situation like abnormal rhythms of the heart or sudden death.

Here are the clinical features seen in the disease including:-

  • Pain in the chest is especially seen during the exercise.
  • Murmuring of heart
  • The rapid sensation of pounding as well as pounding heartbeats.
  • Difficulty in breathing

  • Atrial fibrillation - The thick walls of the muscles along with abnormal structure formed in heart cells, causing the change in the electrical system of the heart. This leads to an abnormal heartbeat and increases the risk of developing blood clots. This clot can travel all the way to the brain resulting in a stroke.
  • Mitral valve problem - These thick muscles block the flow of blood leaving the heart and the valve present between the left ventricle as well as left atrium might not close properly. As a result, the blood might leak back into the left atrium making the condition more serious.
  • Blocked Blood flow - Many people who have thick muscles of the heart suffer from the blocked flow of blood. Resulting in shortness of breath causing chest pain, exertion, fainting, and dizziness.
  • Heart failure - These thick muscles later become so thick that it is difficult for the heart to fill with an adequate amount of blood. As a result, the heart is not able to pump more blood into the body.
  • Dilated cardiomyopathy - It is rarely found that in people with Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy the muscles of the heart become weak as well as ineffective. The ventricles become enlarged and the ability to pump blood becomes weak.
  • Sudden cardiac failure - It is rarely seen that patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy can suffer from death. As there are times that people with Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy are not diagnosed with the disease resulting in cardiac deaths.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is normally caused due to the mutation of genes resulting in the muscles of the heart growing thick abnormally. People mostly with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy have a septum that is the muscular wall between the bottom of two chambers of the ventricle becomes thicker as compared to the normal one. This results in obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy but there is no significant sign of a blockage in the flow of blood. However, it is mostly possible that it becomes hard for the heart to relax and reduce the flow of blood to the ventricles. As people with this disease have an abnormal arrangement of heart muscle cells triggering an arrhythmia.

Most of the time Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy is inherited from the family. If someone in the family is suffering from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy then there are 50 percent chances that there is the mutation of genes resulting in the disease.

It is important to know the medical and family history of the patient and another clinical test that should be done are:-

  • Electrocardiogram
  • Echocardiogram
  • Cardiac MRI

Fingers are one of the important and essential parts of our body which helps us in holding things and other stuff in our daily routine. We all have seen somewhere somehow injured our finger in a way especially while playing. One of the painful experiences one can go through is getting hit by the ball on the tip of the finger. This is one of the pain that we all have gone through and the impact of the injury only lasts for a few days or months. But there are cases where people severely injure their fingers resulting in Mallet Fingers. In this article we are going to discuss the Mallet Finger and its impact on the finger along with its herbal treatment.

Mallet finger is also known as hammer finger is an injury of the extensor tendon and resulting in difficulty to move the tip of the finger. This generally causes bruising and pain at the backside of the joint. This can result from the rupturing of the extensor tendon and a small fragment of bone connected to the avulsed tendon. If it is left untreated then it might cause swan neck deformity from DIP joint flexion and PIP joint hyperextension. Most of the time mallet fingers can be treated without any surgery but most of the time people with acute or chronic mallet disease are recommended to have surgery due to failed treatment. Terminal extensor tendon injuries are very common in mallet finger injuries and almost 5.6 percent of the injuries are of the wrist as well as hand. It is commonly seen in people who work in sport-related places.

It is commonly seen between the ages of 34 to 41 years of age and both men as well as women are equally affected.

Mallet Finger, Baseball Finger

Here are some of the clinical features seen in the disease including:-

  • Dropping off the tip of the finger
  • Not able to straighten the finger on its own.
  • Bruising or swelling in the finger may also be seen
  • There are times that the finger might appear normal but is not able to straighten it.

In Mallet finger injuries it is seen that there is rupturing of the distal extensor. With the forced flexion of the distal phalanx while doing extensive exercise for example playing ball sports there are chances that the patient might hit the fingertip resulting in Mallet Finger.

  • It can be easily diagnosed through the physical examination of the patient.

Grahani Roga & its relation with Intestinal Diseases in Modern Language?

Do you often get disappointed because of unexpected gut symptoms? Do you often experience pains and cramps in the abdomen? Do you frequently get exposed to changes in bowel habits? Do you often feel a sudden and urgent need to use the bathroom? Well, you may be confronted with Grahani roga which can be pretty irritating. From having to backtrack your diet to the awkwardness of explaining your situation to others, no one understands your situation except for the ones who have already acquainted with them.

Most people today follow a sedentary lifestyle that leaves them at the stake of irregular diet and diet timings. Added to that is the tremendous mental stress that people undergo in these modern days. All these eventually lead to a diseased state of body and mind. Disorders of the digestive system play a major role among them.

Grahani Roga, Intestinal Diseases, IBS, Ulcerative colitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Agni, the body fire is solely responsible for our lifespan, health, immunity, energy, enthusiasm, vital breath, luster, corpulence, and heat processes. When the body fire functions properly, one lives long and free from disorders. Diseases occur when this fire is deranged and death occurs when this fire is extinguished. Hence the root cause of all is Agni. - Charaka Samhita

Within the process of digestion lies the root cause of all the diseases. When the digestive system is working at its optimum supported by the correct lifestyle and correct quantity and quality of food as per our individual constitution, the food we ingest is broken down into its constituents, nourishes our tissues, and supports our everyday functions.

Agni is a unique concept of Ayurveda and is solely responsible for the physiology of digestion. Following an incorrect diet and food habits can derange our digestive fire which ultimately affects the digestive process, thereby leading to the formation of toxins.

Grahani may be related to the seat of this digestive fire. According to Ayurveda, Grahani is accountable for the ingestion, digestion, absorption, and assimilation of food. Grahani is among the major causes of digestive illness globally, especially in developing countries, and is often constituted because of improper diet and lifestyle habits.

To put it another way, Grahani is caused by the incompatibility of factors that are related to digestion and metabolism. Ayurveda insists that Grahani is the site of Jatharagni (digestive fire). Accordingly, any factor that may cause derangement of this Jatharagni can potentially lead to Grahani Roga.

  1. Vataja Grahani Roga results from increased Vata. It may be due to a variety of causes that include suppression of natural urges, intake of fermented foods, intake of contaminated, pungent, bitter, astringent, and dry foods. Symptoms being the absence of hunger, noise in the ears, pain in the flanks, thighs, and neck, vomiting, depression.
  2. Pittaja Grahani Roga results from increased Pitta. It may be due to the intake of too many raw foods that are pungent and sour in taste. The patient may eliminate foods that are not properly digested, stools may be deep yellow in color, and may experience burning sensations in the chest or throat.
  3. Kaphaja Grahani Roga results from increased Kapha. It may be due to the increased use of fatty, heavy, cold foods. Also sleeping right after meals results in improper digestive function. Patients may experience excess coating in the mouth and tongue, sweet taste in the mouth, heaviness in the abdomen, elimination of mucus along with feces.

When the process of digestion is affected, diseases arise in the gastrointestinal tract. According to Ayurveda, the function of the duodenum is twofold. It takes part in the digestive process and it also holds on to the food until it is digested. Once the digestion is completed, the duodenum releases the food into the colon from where it gets excreted under the influence of Apana Vayu.

Grahani is caused by the derangement of digestive fire and causes weakness in the duodenum. As the digestive fire remains deranged, the functions of the duodenum are inhibited. The duodenum will either release its contents earlier than normal into the colon or it will retain its contents for longer periods. This eventually results in the food released into the colon either being uncooked or overcooked.

In response to this condition, one may experience loose bowel movements alternating with constipation. Since these are the cardinal symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Grahani Roga can be related to Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Ulcerative Colitis, and other Intestinal Diseases, the symptoms of Grahani roga being more or less similar to the symptoms of these diseases.

Following the general principle of treatment, the offending dosha must be brought into equilibrium foremost. The management of Grahani should ultimately aim at correcting Agni and strengthening the duodenum. Consumption of buttermilk is considered to be effective towards treating all types of grahani as buttermilk is easy to digest. It is also known to balance the three doshas and strengthen the digestive fire.

Digestive and carminative agents can be given to stimulate the digestive fire. Once the digestive fire is strengthened, the next concern must be to get rid of the toxins. This can be made possible through reducing therapies and elimination therapies that include emesis, purgation, enema, and other detox therapies.

The preventive measures include avoidance of causative factors of Grahani Roga. Avoid intake of katu (pungent), tikta (bitter), kashaya (astringent), and rasa pradhana ahara (taste dominant food). Excessive guru (heavy), sheeta (cold), snigdha (oily) foods must also be avoided. Sleeping during the day and suppression of natural urges are also to be avoided.

In a nutshell, by following a healthy and balanced diet and lifestyle, all digestive disorders including grahani can be avoided. By every effort, the digestive fire of a person must be protected because when the fire is lost, death occurs. When the fire is deranged by doshas, diseases occur. When the fire is well maintained, the person leads a healthy and happy life free from diseases. Agni is responsible for the health of an individual. - Ashtanga Hridaya
