Condyloma Acuminatum (Genital Warts) - Causes, Symptoms & Ayurvedic Treatment

CONDYLOMA ACUMINATUM: OVERVIEW

condyloma acuminatum, genital warts

Condyloma acuminatum is one of the most common virally transmitted STDs (sexually transmitted diseases). The condition is characterized by the appearance of small bumps (warts or lesions) on the genitals. These bumps appear on anogenital skin or mucous membranes, and are typically 2-5 mm in diameter.

Condyloma acuminatum is also commonly known as genital warts or anogenital warts.

In medical terminology, Condyloma acuminatum or genital warts is a condition which refers to an epidermal manifestation attributed to the epidermotropic human papillomavirus (HPV). In simple words, it is a common sexually transmitted infection caused by HPV. The condition generally affects sexually active adults aged between 18 and 59 years.

Genital warts can be either papilliform, with an exophytic component; or they can be sessile, having a broad base. The surface of lesions can be verrucous or flat, and they can either be skin-colored or have a lighter/darker color than the skin. The lesions are usually grouped together in a specific part of the anogenital area. In men, the lesions usually occur on and around the penis or anus, whereas, in women, the lesions generally occur on the vulva, cervix, perineum, or anus.

CONDYLOMA ACUMINATUM: OCCURRENCE / TRANSMISSION

Condyloma acuminatum or genital warts can develop as a result of autoinoculation because of shaving or trimming. In addition, the condition can also occur due to unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex, and through skin-to-skin contact, as in the case of a hug or a handshake. The use of shared sex toys can also transmit the disease.

However, in most cases, the transmission of Condyloma acuminatum occurs sexually. Some of the potential risk factors linked to the transmission of the disease are:

  • Past history of other sexually transmitted infection
  • Becoming sexually active at an early age
  • Having unprotected sex, particularly with different partners
  • Having unprotected sex without any knowledge about the partner’s medical history

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF CONDYLOMA ACUMINATUM

Generally, Condyloma acuminatum or genital warts which affect men as well as women are asymptomatic, though, in some cases, a few patients may present certain complaints. Hence, some of the common symptoms associated with genital warts can include:

  • Pain
  • Bleeding
  • Irritation
  • Foul smell
  • Discharge

Moreover, if the size of the genital warts or lesions is big, some patients may also experience difficulty with defecation, and discomfort or difficulty during sexual intercourse.

AYURVEDIC APPROACH TO CONDYLOMA ACUMINATUM

The key objective behind the Ayurvedic system of treating diseases is to cure the root cause of a disease instead of relieving its symptoms. As such, Ayurvedic treatment is essentially individual-specific, and is chiefly aimed at maintaining a balance of the body's three energies or 'doshas' -- Vata, Pitta and Kapha -- in order to improve the overall health of individuals affected by some particular disease/disorder.

Since diseases like Condyloma acuminatum or genital warts are basically viral infections which are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), Ayurvedic texts compare warts with 'Charmakeela,' and have elaborated that the condition may manifest in different forms, based on the dominating dosha in different patients.

According to Ayurveda, when the occurrence of warts is dominated by Vata dosha, a patient feels prickly kind of pain; when dominated by Pitta, nodules appearing on the skin are dry, hard, oily and blackish in color; and when dominated by Kapha, nodules appear on the skin without changing the colour of the skin.

Ayurvedic treatment of Condyloma acuminatum involves the use of natural herbs and other natural ingredients which can manage the condition without any side effects. This kind of treatment can manage Condyloma acuminatum so effectively that the patients usually do not have any scars on the areas of the skin where the warts had occurred.

CONDYLOMA ACUMINATUM: TREATMENT

The treatment of Condyloma acuminatum generally involves three types of techniques -- topical, immunotherapeutic, and surgical -- depending on the severity of the condition. Specifically, Condyloma acuminatum can be managed by treating underlying immunosuppression (including HIV), Surgical removal of warts using excision or curettage, Cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen or cryoprobe, and, in some cases, Electro surgery.

For the management of Condyloma acuminatum in a safe and natural manner, it is advisable to use herbal products from a renowned herbal manufacturing company. Experts Ayurveda practitioners at Planet Ayurveda have prepared some extremely beneficial herbal formulations, using 100% pure herbs, which can be very effective in managing the condition. Eruptive Syringoma - Causes, Symptoms & Ayurvedic Treatment

ERUPTIVE SYRINGOMA: OVERVIEW

Eruptive syringoma

Eruptive syringoma is an extremely rare variant of a condition called 'Syringoma,' which is a common benign tumor of eccrine sweat ducts. This distinctive form of Syringoma was first described in 1887, by Jacquet and Darier.

Besides Eruptive syringoma, the other main variants of Syringoma are: a localized variant, a familial form, and a variant linked to Down syndrome.

Eruptive syringoma can be defined, in scientific terms, as a benign adnexal tumor of the intraepidermal portion of eccrine sweat ducts. This eccrine-derived tumor generally occurs during childhood or at puberty.

Eruptive syringoma characteristically manifests itself in the form of successive crops of numerous, disseminated lesions (papules) which appear on the anterior surfaces of the trunk, neck, arms, chest, and the peri-umbilical region, typically in a bilateral, symmetrical distribution. Rarely, the occurrence of the lesions affects a wider part of the body.

The small, skin-coloured lesions which typically mark the occurrence of Eruptive syringoma are usually asymptomatic, but pruritus has been reported in some cases. The lesions may disappear spontaneously in some cases or may remain stationary throughout the life.

Eruptive syringoma can affect both the sexes, though it is more frequently reported in adult women as compared to men.

ERUPTIVE SYRINGOMA: CAUSES AND SYMPTOMS

Generally, most Syringomas are caused due to any activity which increases the productivity of sweat glands, thereby leading to the growth of tumor. In addition, Syringomas may occur because of some other medical condition, like Diabetes, Down syndrome, Marfan’s syndrome or Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

However, in some rare cases, an affected individual may have a genetic predisposition towards developing any of the different variants of Syringoma.

Some of the common symptoms of Eruptive syringoma are:

  • Appearance of successive crops of small, disseminated yellowish lesions in atypical sites
  • Bilateral and symmetrical distribution of lesions on affected sites
  • Pain in the affected skin areas
  • Intense itchiness in affected skin areas
  • Redness of affected skin.

ERUPTIVE SYRINGOMA: AYURVEDIC VIEWPOINT

According to Ayurveda, most of the diseases that affect human beings are caused due to an imbalance in the body's three energies (doshas) -- Vata, Pitta and Kapha -- and also because of following a dietary or lifestyle pattern which is against the prakriti (nature) of an individual.

With Ayurveda highlighting the fact that the skin has six layers, any specific skin disorder is established profoundly into different tissues, like fat, muscles, blood and so on. Ayurvedic experts believe that the main reason behind the occurrence of skin diseases, including Eruptive syringoma, is an imbalance in all the three doshas, primarily the Pitta dosha.

Since Pitta symbolizes 'heat' or 'fire,' the Ayurvedic treatment of skin diseases basically involves the elimination of all those foods/activities which increase the fire element in the body. In addition, herbal formulations specifically prepared by Ayurvedic experts for treating skin problems, like Eruptive syringoma, in an affected individual can be extremely beneficial. Ayurvedic skin treatments usually take a few weeks to remove the indications of the underlying disease.

ERUPTIVE SYRINGOMA: TREATMENT

There is no standard treatment for Eruptive syringoma. Hence, the options available in modern medicine to treat the condition are mostly cosmetic, though they cannot eliminate the potential risk of recurrence. These options may include dermabrasion, different methods of excision, chemical peeling, cryosurgery, electrodesiccation, and oral/topical retinoids. However, it is important to note that surgical and chemical treatment of Eruptive Syringoma may cause scarring of the skin.

Planet Ayurveda herbal manufacturing company offers excellent herbal products which are effective in managing Eruptive syringoma in a safe and natural manner. These herbal products, prepared from 100% pure herbs, include:

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive disorder of the brain. In this disorder, the brain cells start to degenerate. It is characterised by a continuous decline in thinking, behavioural and social skills that disrupts a person's ability to think and function independently.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE?

  • Forgetting recent conversations or events.
  • Inability to carry out everyday tasks.
  • Getting lost in familiar places.
  • Repeat statements and questions over and over.
  • Forgetting the names of family members and objects of everyday life.
  • Having trouble in finding the right words to identify the objects.
  • Changes in personality and behaviour such as: apathy, social withdrawal, mood swings, irritability and aggressiveness, changes in sleeping habits, loss of inhibitions and delusions such as believing something has been stolen.

In advanced stages of this disease, complications likes severe loss of brain function, malnutrition, dehydration or infection can occur.

According to modern medicine, there is no treatment of Alzheimer's disease. There are certain medications that temporarily improve the symptoms or slow the rate of decline.

But, Ayurveda and Spirituality combined together can manage Alzheimer's disease to a great extent.

The science of Ayurveda has always emphasised on spirituality and wisdom. The various studies of Ayurveda give us more moments of clarity and connection.

Ayurveda is much more than a science of understanding health. Rather, it is a science of using health as the basis of one's journey toward enlightenment. The aim of Ayurveda is to keep the physical body healthy so that one can pursue spiritual goals.

In today's world, scientists all over the world are experimenting with Ayurvedic laws and principles and concluding that Ayurvedic laws are based on scientific principles.

For example, recently there was a research on Gayatri Mantra by a doctor of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi and a scientist of IIT, India and concluded that by reciting Gayatri Mantra for a period of time, there is an infinite expansion of intellectual capacity meaning that the power of mind can be increased. This research has proved that spirituality is not a superstition. It is a super science.

This research will increase the faith in Meditation and Spirituality as well.

WHAT WAS THE RESEARCH?

AIIMS has confirmed it through the brain activity by MRI. In this research, the brain was activated with Gayatri Mantra and observed the results with the help of MRI. In the research, it was found that the brain was expanded by reading this mantra for a specified time.

WHAT WERE THE RESULTS?

  • For carrying the research experiment, people were divided into two groups.
  • In the first group, Gayatri Mantra was read for 108 times regularly.
  • But, the second group was not allowed to read Gayatri Mantra.
  • It was found in the research that those who were reciting Mantras, the chemicals that were responsible for happiness started to grow rapidly.
  • GABA (gamma-Aminobutryic acid) is a chemical found in the brain. It is an inhibitory neurotransmitter found in the nervous system. Lack of this chemical causes depression and lack of sleep.
  • But, in the second week after reading the Gayatri Mantra, it was found GABA chemical started growing rapidly in the body.
  • With the help of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), it was found that who had read Gayatri Mantra, their mind was very quiet and awakened.
  • It was also seen that those who spoke this Mantra, in the 2nd week of their practice, the brain waves were better in comparison to the group that did not chant the Gayatri Mantra. The waves of their brains were disturbed and of low quality.

So, it was concluded that the intellectual capacity of the person can be expanded by reciting Gayatri Mantra.

In Indian culture, the Gayatri Mantra has a special place. It is one of the most influential mantras of Rig Veda.

WHAT IS THE MANTRA?

Om Bhur Bhuvah Swah
Tat-savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devsya Dhimahi
Dhiyo Yonah Prachodayat

If Gayatri Mantra is pronounced every day by making the rule, it can increase the power of mind. It is also found that by chanting this Mantra, different types of changes are seen in the brain cells. Moreover, chanting increases the blood supply to few particular areas of the brain. So, many positive changes are seen.

Due to this, Chanting Gayatri Mantra can be useful in various disorders related to brain like: Alzehimer's disease.

ROLE OF BRAHMI IN ALZEHIMER'S DISEASE

Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) is an herb which is used in various Ayurvedic formulations known as "Medhya Rasayana" (nootropic drug).

  • This herb promotes free radical scavenger mechanisms and protects the cells in hippocampus and prefrontal cortex against DNA damage and cytotoxicity which is implicated in Alzehimer's Disease.
  • Brahmi also reduces lipoxyegenase activity thus reduces lipid peroxidation and increases chelates iron and glutathione peroxidase.
  • It also protects cholinergic neurons and reduces the anti-cholinesterase activity as compared to modern medicine drugs such as donepezil, galantamine.

What Is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis, Excessive sweating

It is a common disorder characterized by excessive sweating that can affect just one area or the whole body. It is commonly active in the hands, feet, armpits and groin. No doubt, it is not a life threatening disorder, but it can be uncomfortable and disrupt the normal daily activities. Do not leave it unattended as it can cause skin infections too. Ayurvedic Approach To Manage Hyperhidrosis

Ayurveda, an ancient health care system, has been practiced in India for at least 5000 years. As per Ayurvedic principles, there are three doshas or bodily energies- vata, pitta and kapha dosha. Ayurveda believes in correcting the disorder by targeting the root cause. It focuses on balancing the affected dosha while managing the symptoms of any disease. The interesting thing, Ayurveda uses herbs in making Ayurvedic formulations that are natural and free from side effects.

In Ayurveda, this condition is known as Swedadhikya. The word Swedadhikya is a combination of two words- Sweda that means sweat and Adhikya that means excess. According to Ayurveda, heavy sweating may occur due to high pitta and problems with fat metabolism, mental conditions such as stress or anxiety. Remember, stress further increases sweating. So, it is important to keep stress hormones under control as well.

That’s why it is seen that people with diabetes, heart problems, stress disorder and hyperthyroidism usually sweat more. Unbalanced pitta dosha and stress may be the reason behind this problem with these people.
