Causes of Sarcopenia

It is commonly observed in lazy and inactive people, sarcopenia also affects the people who remain physically active throughout life but occurs due to sedentary lifestyle and other reasons such as:-

  1. Change in hormone levels
  2. Protein requirements change
  3. Destruction of motor neurons

1. Change in hormone levels

Hormonal changes with age can also lead to muscle loss. Low levels of certain hormones such as growth hormones, testosterone, and insulin-like growth factors lead to reduced muscle mass.

2. Low protein production

The destruction of motor neurons and nerve cells delays the transfer of signals from the brain to the muscles for movement.

3. Destruction of motor neurons

As a person grows older, his body's ability to produce protein becomes low, this protein is needed to develop muscle. When protein production is reduced, individual muscle cells become smaller.

Suffering from Vaginismus? Get rid of it with Herbal and Home Remedies

Vaginismus is defined as an involuntary vaginal muscle spasm. This condition hinders penetration in the vagina it can cause pain during penetration; some women cannot even tolerate the insertion of a tampon.

We have discussed important steps which include important points like symptoms, type, cause, symptoms, complication, risk factors, with some effective herbal and home remedies which help to cure the disease.

Vaginismus, Herbal remedies, home remedies

Vaginismus is a condition when the muscles around the vagina tighten involuntarily with no abnormalities in the genital organ. This condition prevents any vaginal penetration.

When patients try to insert any object like tampon, penis or speculum into the vagina, it tightens up because of an involuntary contraction of muscles around the vagina. This condition can lead to generalized muscle spasms, and pain.

It can lead to emotional distress because intercourse may be painful, women generally fear it. The fear of pain makes vaginal muscle even tighter and causes increased pain when sexual intercourse is attempted. A reflex reaction develops when the vagina is pressed or sometimes even just touched, the vaginal muscles automatically tighten. Most women cannot even tolerate the insertion of a tampon.

Ayurveda is a traditional and ancient form of medicine. The goal of Ayurveda is to maintain a healthy person’s health and to alleviate disorders of the diseased. Ayurveda believes in maintaining a balance between mind, body, and soul. This balance can be maintained by the balance between Dosh, Dhatu, and Agni. Dosha is of three types Vata (Air), Pitta (fire), Kapha (water). The Balance between these three dosha is known as a healthy state of body but the imbalance between this Dosha causes various problems.

According to Ayurveda, Vaginismus is considered in the ‘Yonivayapad’. Acharya Charaka has written that when a woman having a predominance of Pitta (either due to Pitta Prakriti or consumption of diet which aggravates Pitta) withholds her natural urge of sneezing and eructation at the time of coitus, then the vitiated Pitta,  along with Vayu reaches Yoni (reproductive system) and produces its abnormalities. The Yoni (Vagina) becomes inflamed and tender due to which there is pain in lumbosacral and groin region.

  1. Primary Vaginismus: It is a lifetime condition in which the pain has always presented. It will be difficult to use a tampon. It is experienced by women during the first attempt at intercourse. The male partner is not able to insert his penis into the vagina. There may be pain, generalized muscle spasms.
  2. Secondary Vaginismus: This develops after a woman has already experienced normal sexual intercourse. It can occur at any stage of life, such as an infection, menopause, a traumatic event, relationship issues, surgery, or childbirth.
  3. Global Vaginismus: Vaginismus is always present and any object can trigger it.
  4. Situational Vaginismus: This occurs in a specific situation. It may happen during coitus but not during tampon insertion.
