Raj Pravartani Vati - Ingredients, Method Of Preparation & Its Uses

INTRODUCTION

Raj pravartani vati is a classical ayurvedic herbo-mineral formulation mainly indicated for amenorrhea or scanty bleeding. Amenorrhoea is referred to as absence of a menstrual blood in a woman of reproductive age. Absence of monthly bleeding before puberty and after menopause, during pregnancy and lactaiotn period is considered as normal. Amenorrhea is of two types primary and secondary, primary amenorrhea term is to be used when there is absence of menstruation in a young woman beyond the age of 16 years. Amenorrhea is said to be secondary when there is absence of menstruation after the starting of the menstruation cycle. As per ayurveda amenorrhea is considered as anartava. Anartava is referred to as artava adarshnam (absence of menstrual blood). The main cause of annartava is imbalance and obstruction of vata dosha. The main dosha obstructed is apana vata and its obstruction causes the appearance of artava due to vitiation in its normal karma that is pravahana of artava and some other kama like pravahana of fetus, fecal matter, urine, etc. So here we will discuss all about Raj pravartani vati and how it helps in the pravahana of artava.

INGREDIENTS USED IN RAJ PRAVARTANI VATI

  1. Shuddha tankan (An ayurvedic compound)
  2. Hinga (Ferula asafoetida)
  3. Shuddha kasis (An ayurvedic iron compound)
  4. Kanya saar (Aloe barbadensis)
  5. Juice of aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis)
  6. Ghrita

DESCRIPTION OF INGREDIENTS

All the ingredients in this formulation have a special medicinal benefits which are mentioned below:-

  1. Shuddha tankan (An ayurvedic compound): It is hot in potency, balances the vata dosha. Due to both these properties it promotes the flow of menstrual blood. Also it has the property to balance kapha dosha so by balancing kapha dosha it removes the obstruction that also aids the flow of artava (menstrual blood).
  2. Hinga (Ferula asafoetida): Hinga (Ferula asafoetida) is known for its hot potency. Although it balances vata, pitta and kapha dosha, mainly it helps in pacifying kapha dosha and balancing vata dosha with vayu anulomana (restores normal movement of vata). Also it is helpful in alleviating pain and cramps during menstruation.
  3. Shuddh kasis (An ayurvedic iron compound): Absence of menstruation includes anemia as one of the causes. Shuddh kasis helps in promoting hemoglobin levels which in turn corrects anemia and later on improves the absence of menstruation.
  4. Kanya saar (Aloe barbadensis) and its juice: Aloe vera is tridosha shamak. And also it is very effective in balancing the hormone levels in women. As we know that hormones also play a major role in regular menstruation so by balancing hormone levels we may correct irregular menstruation.
  5. Ghrita: It is considered as tridosha shamak along with that it helps in vata anulomana. Also rakta dosha is vitiated in amenorrhea so by balancing pitta dosha it regulates the rakta dosha and promotes regular menstruation.

METHOD OF PREPARATION

  1. Firstly take Shuddha tankan (An ayurvedic compound), Hinga (Ferula asafoetida), Shuddha kasis (An ayurvedic iron compound), Kanya saar (Aloe barbadensis) in equal amount and put it in mortar and and triturate it with Juice of aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis) and ghrita (cow's ghee).
  2. Mix it well and put it into a tray, dry it in sunlight and add honey into it and make tablets from it.
  3. Keep it in a dry and air-tightened jar and use it accordingly.

MEDICINAL PROPERTIES

Raj pravartani vati helps in balancing tridosha. The ayurvedic minerals and herbs included in Raj Pravartani vati has such properties that helps in eliminating obstruction in the pathway of menstrual flow and alleviating the main cause of amenorrhea that is vata imbalance which will be corrected by the vata anulomana properties of ingredients of Raj Pravartani Vati. So by removing obstruction that is due to kapha dosha and by vata anulomana Raj Pravartani vati promotes regular menstruation by promoting healthy menstrual blood flow, by correcting haemoglobin levels and alleviating pain and cramps during menstruation.

DOSHA KARMA (EFFECTS ON DOSHA)

It pacifies tridosha (vata, pitta and kapha).

DOSAGE

1-2 tablets twice daily or as prescribed by the physician according to the condition.

SIDE EFFECTS

There is no side effect of this classical formulation if taken in the prescribed form. If taken without the prescribed dose it may cause heavy bleeding.
