ABSTRACT

Medicinal preparation has been changed or evolved as the need of the era. The Ayurvedic formulations help to maintain our body in a balanced state. Traditional Ayurvedic medicines are prepared from various herbs that are collected from the environment. In allopathic medication, their formulations are based on chemical constituents, and in the Ayurveda system we also take medicines that are prepared from rasas, this is a very common form of penetration of metals and minerals in our body. Bhasmas can also be added with plant-based formulations that are named as Kharaliya Rasayana. These are prepared by adding shuddha parad, shuddha gandhak, very essential components of mineral processing, these may be analysed as sulphides, oxides, sulphates or chlorides. Ayurvedic medicines are globally recognized for their efficacy, quality, safety, and accuracy. Rasa aushadhis are formulated in purified or shodhit form by ancient methods. In this article we are going to discuss a famous Rasa aushadhi named Arsha kuthar Rasa and its benefits.

Arsha kuthar ras is very effective in ano-rectal disorders specifically in arshas and is very beneficial in balancing the vata and kapha dosha. Arsha are kept under ashta mahagada by various Acharyas. This is caused due to sedentary lifestyle, irregular diet regimens, less fibrous diet, prolonged sitting postures, or even due to psychological disorders. This disease can be managed by four means of treatment that is bheshaja (herbal medicine or herbo-mineral medicine), kshara (chemical cauterisation or kshara sutra), agnikarma (thermal cauterization), shastra (by surgical interventions). Medicines are prescribed in the early stages of diseases where dosha prakopa is not reached upto the severe level. Arsha kuthar Ras improves the functions of the liver, strengthening the vein, relieves constipation, alleviates the inflammation or swelling by shrinkage of prolonged mass.

Arsha, also called as hemorrhoids, are vascular structures in the anal canal, inflammation and swelling in these vascularities leads to development of arsha or hemorrhoids. These can be internal or external. Internal haemorrhoids usually don't cause pain but present with bright red rectal bleeding. Symptoms of external hemorrhoids leads to pain, and swelling or can say that prolonged mass in the anal area. This commonly occurs in three locations around anus : left lateral, right anterior, right posterior. This disease usually occurs due to the vitiation of jatharagni and tridosha, especially vata dosha. These aggravated doshas affect annavaha srotas, the guda vali's, twaka, mansa, meda dhatu, which directly results in the development of Arsha.

Ayurveda believes in the fundamentals that everything on the earth has their guna or qualities that are very good in actions and are very effective. Some are lies in pure form and some are filled with impurities. So for the shodhana process, our Acharyas have told us about many shodhana processes to take the wonderful results of various herbs and minerals. Minerals lie in large or solid masses that are converted into small and soluble particles to change them into edible form.
