Ayurvedic Treatment for Klebsiella Infection - Symptoms, Causes, Diagnosis & Herbal Remedies

Infections are main cause for a disease as it not only causes weak immunity in a person but sometimes it also causes various other problems. Klebsiella infection is caused due to Klebsiella bacteria that includes pneumonia also. This infection occurs due to long intake of antibiotics, when patient is on ventilator from long time or on intravenous catheters are at higher risk. It is also known as superbug that infects various part of body. The bacteria usually live inside human intestines.


Klebsiella infections shows different signs and symptoms that are often found and are mentioned below:

  • Shortness of breath
  • High fevers
  • Chills
  • Pneumonia
  • Wound infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Cough with yellow, green mucus
  • Flu
  • Rash
  • Light-headedness
  • Neck stiffness

This infection is caused by "Klebsiella bacteria" that is main reason for infection. The bacteria is found in human intestines where they do not cause infections. When Klebsiella bacteria enters respiratory tract, causes pneumonia, breathlessness or bloody mucus. This infection spreads through person to person contact. Persons who are on ventilators if use contaminated breathing tubes, or have injury or have used contaminated intravenous catheters are at more risk of having Klebsiella infection.


This infection is diagnosed by examining small sample of mucus, blood or urine. Patient can go for chest x-ray or PET scan to check infection of lungs.


As per Ayurveda the cause of infection is imbalance of all three doshas (vata, pitta and kapha) in body. The main aim of Ayurveda is to balance these doshas and disease can be automatically cured. In Klebsiella infection the imbalance of pitta dosha along with vata and kapha dosha is present. Planet Ayurveda offers few medicines that cure Klebsiella infection and stop growth of Klebsiella bacteria. These herbal medicines help to cure breathlessness, fever, chills, flu, urinary tract infection, wound infection and cough related to Klebsiella infection. Herbal Remedies for Klebsiella Infections


1. Curcumin Capsules

The herb used for preparation of this capsule is "Curcuma longa". Curcumin is considered as active compound of turmeric. Turmeric is used from ancient time for its therapeutic values. These capsules possess anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, analgesic, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic and anti-hypertensive properties. The anti-bacterial property of this capsule can kill the growth of unwanted bacteria in body. Klebsiella infection and its associated symptoms are treated with use of this formulation.

Recommended Dosage: One to two capsules twice daily with plain water after meals.

2. Manjistha Capsules

Pure extract of herb manjistha "Rubia cordifolia" is used for capsule preparation. The capsule pacifies pitta and kapha dosha in body. Manjistha herb possesses anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, immune-booster and anti-spasmodic properties. These properties balance all the symptoms associated with Klebsiella infections. Manjistha capsule kills the growth of harmful bacteria in body which is the cause of this disease.

Recommended Dosage: One to two capsules twice daily with plain water after meals.

3. Kaishore Guggul

This balances vata, pitta and kapha dosha in body. Ingredients used for preparation of these tablets are Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Guggul resin (Commiphora mukul), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Ginger (Zingiber officinale), Black pepper (Piper nigrum), Long pepper (Piper longum) and Vidanga (Embelia ribes) etc. These herbs are used for removing toxins from blood and maintain a healthy metabolism. The tablets remove excess pitta from body and balance all three doshas (vata, pitta and kapha). Kaishore guggul tablets provide effective results in shortness of breath, high fevers, chills, pneumonia, wound infections, flu and urinary tract infections.

Recommended Dosage: Two to three tablets twice daily with plain water after meals.

4. Chandanadhi Vati

These tablets help in balancing the pitta and kapha dosha in body. Also help to maintain digestion, metabolism and healthy blood circulation in body. Ingredients used for tablet preparation are Shveta chandan (Santalum album), Safed Ral (Vateria indica), Kapur (Cinnamomum camphora), Rasaut (Berberis aristata), Gokshur (Tribulus terrestris) and Choti Elaichi (Elettaria cardamomum) etc. The tablets help to treat urinary tract infection, removes toxins from liver, beneficial in fever, solve problems related to respiratory system, maintain healthy immune system and provides proper health to body. Chandanadhi vati gives very effective result in Klebsiella infections.

Recommended Dosage: Two tablets twice daily with plain water after meals.

5. Immune Booster

These capsules help to improve immunity of an individual. The capsules have ability to fight against various health related complications. Growth of any infection in body causes weak immunity. Ingredients used for preparation of capsules are Grape seed (Vitis vinifera), Cow colostrum (Bovine colostrum), Bhumiamla (Phyllanthus niruri) and Green tea (Camellia sinensis).

  • Grape Seed (Vitis vinifera): These seeds are rich source of vitamin C and E. These are effective in boosting up immunity that helps to cure Klebsiella infection.
  • Cow Colostrum (Bovine colostrum): Cow colostrum is rich in immunoglobins and vitamin A. It boosts up immune system, heals infections and deals with symptoms related to Klebsiella infection.
