Abstract
A clinical trial was carried out to assess the effectiveness and safety of Osteo Plan capsules, Ayurvedic formulation in the management of osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most prevalent disorder in the World which affects a large population. It is a degenerative joint disease that causes pain, inflexibility and swelling in the joints, commonly affecting knees, hands, hips and spine. If a knee joint is involved then the condition becomes more painful. It is believed that Ayurveda intervention can help slow down the deterioration of the disease and increase the chances of achieving positive results within a shorter period. So, the Osteo Plan was developed by an MD expert at Planet Ayurveda and a trial was conducted involving 18 patients diagnosed with osteoarthritis. The selected patients were aged between 45-65 years.
Osteo Plan comprises various herbs like Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), Hadjod (Cissus quadrangularis) and Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna). These herbs have anti-inflammatory, lubricating and antioxidant properties which could be beneficial in alleviating the symptoms of osteoarthritis. Osteo Plan was given in a dose of 1-2 capsules daily for 4 months. After 4 months of treatment, the results were assessed in all selected patients. Every patient was satisfied with the Osteo Plan capsules, demonstrating notable improvement in symptoms and joint mobility. None of the patients reported or experienced any side effects. This finding is highly significant in today’s context as a remedy of a very common degenerative disease affecting our society.
Introduction
Osteoarthritis is the most widespread health condition, affecting millions of people worldwide and marked by symptoms like joint pain, swelling, painful joint movement and stiffness. Osteoarthritis is characterised when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones tears down over time, which results in chronic disability at older ages. The topmost layer of cartilage breaks down and deteriorates.
Osteoarthritis mainly targets hands, hips, spine and knees. Osteoarthritis is characterized in two forms: primary and secondary Osteoarthritis. Primary osteoarthritis is the most prevalent type that develops in your joints as you age. Secondary osteoarthritis occurs when a joint is directly damaged by factors such as injuries or trauma.

Osteo Plan Capsules
Aim Of The Study
Ayurveda is commonly used to treat osteoarthritis. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Ayurvedic treatment by Osteo Plan in patients with osteoarthritis.
Methods
18 patients, aged between 45-65 years, who visited the OPD of Planet Ayurveda with clinical and radiological signs of osteoarthritis, were chosen for the trial. Patients on concurrent or recent steroids were included and showed symptoms like pain, swelling, early morning stiffness and joint mobility. All the patients as per selection criteria underwent physical examination. All symptoms, including their severity and duration, were documented before starting the Osteo Plan treatment.
Standard blood tests and imaging were conducted before and after the treatment course. Osteo Plan was taken at a dose of 1-2 capsules twice daily with plain water for a duration of 4 months. No additional medication or topical pain relief treatments were used during the treatment period.
Observations
A symptomatic evaluation was performed using a scoring system to assess the clinical effectiveness of Osteo Plan. The improvement was evaluated through radiological imaging of the joint. Relief in pain and other subjective symptoms were considered as the criteria for efficacy.
Results
The case study included a total of 18 patients, out of which 7 males and 11 females. Almost all the patients had bilateral knee joint involvement. The clinical and symptomatic observations indicate a significant difference in the relief of symptoms with the Osteo Plan.
A total of 87% patients expressed satisfaction with the Osteo Plan treatment and demonstrated significant progress in symptoms and mobility. None of the patients experienced any adverse reactions and all had a positive outcome, with relief from pain and improved joint mobility.
