Scabies can occur worldwide and it affects people of all races. They spread very fast in overcrowded and unhygienic conditions where body contact occurs. Bacterial skin infections, such as, impetigo is the most common complications of scabies. Scabies is seen as honey colored, oozing blisters. This type of infection is usually treated with antibiotics.

Earlier this problem can be mistaken to be any other skin problem because the rashes looks almost similar. It looks like acne, or a mosquito bite. What makes scabies different is its harsh itch. Itching is more severe in small kids and the elder people.

They can live anywhere on the body but most likely found:

  • Between the fingers
  • Folds of wrist, elbows and knees.
  • Around the waistline and navel.
  • Breasts and genitals
  • Head, neck, face, palms and even soles.

Mites which cause scabies dig deep into the skin and lay their eggs, forming a burrow which resembles a pencil mark. Its Eggs mature in 21 days.

  • Itching
  • Rashes
  • Sores
  • Abrasions on the skin
  • Pimples on the trunk
  • Small blisters on palm and soles
  • Affects outer skin.

Scabies mites might only live upto 72 hours without human contact, but once it thrives a person it can live upto two months. Mites survive longer in colder conditions with higher humidity. When infests on a human, it burrows deep into the layers of skin and symptoms start begin visible within three to six weeks.

To diagnose scabies doctor examine skin, looking for signs of mites including the characteristic burrows.
During examination the doctor locates for a mite burrow, then takes a sample of the infected area of skin to examine under a microscope determining the presence of mites or their eggs.

An imbalance of tridoshas- vata, pitta and kapha leads to skin problems as per Ayurveda .The prime is pitta dosha.
