Natural Cure for Piles in Ayurveda

When you spend hours in washroom due to rectal bleeding, feel embarrassed among people due to irritation and itching in anal region, yes we are talking about piles (hemorrhoids)!! This diseases is categorized among the filthiest problems. It is result of various factors like our life style, ageing and improper eating habits etc.

In piles, veins and blood vessels get swollen around anus and rectum area. Swelling and inflammation of veins can be due to constipation, obesity, pregnancy, prolonged sitting, genetic factors and anal intercourse.

But don't worry because Ayurveda is an eminent approach to get rid of piles!

In Ayurveda Piles are called as Arsh. In Ayurveda, there are three energies – vata, pitta and kapha that are responsible for a healthy body. Imbalance of any of three energies lead to several health complications. In piles there is the imbalance of all the tridoshas (vata, pitta and kapha). Aggravation of pitta dosha also results in the toxins (ama) accumulation in the digestive gut. Whereas imbalanced vata dosha along with kapha lead to the low digestive fire that further leads to persistent constipation. Hence accumulation of waste products in the body adds towards the development of hemorrhoids. Natural Cure for Piles in Ayurveda is based on to pacify the vitiated doshas, improve digestion and improve symptoms.

From the treatment perspective, there are various herbs present in ayurveda like Vidanga (Embelia ribes), Pippali (Piper longum), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Amlaki (Emblica officinalis), Vacha (Acorus calamus), Guduchi  (Tinospora cordifolia), kachnar bark (Bauhina variegate), Amlaki (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminali achebula), Bibhitaki  (Terminalia bellerica) and Ginger (Zingiber officinale) which are very effective for the treatment of piles in a safe way.


  • Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)Haritaki is an effective in Ayurveda to manage the problem of piles. Laxative and purgative properties of this herb help to resolve the problem of constipation which may lead to piles. Moreover anti-inflammatory properties of it help to reduce swelling and inflammation.
  • Pippali (Piper longum) This herb has the great medicinal importance in Ayurveda to manage the problem of piles. This herb is quite good to resolve the abdominal health issues which are responsible for piles.
  • Kachnar bark (Bauhina variegate)Use of this herb is quite good to treat the bleeding piles.  Laxative properties of this herb help in the loosening and easy passing of stools.
  • Amlaki (Emblica officinalis) This herb is rich source of anti-oxidants. Its anti-inflammatory it help to alleviate the swelling and inflammation.
  • Vidanga (Embelia ribes) – It is good herb to resolve the anorectal disorders.  It helps to shrink lump formation in piles.
  • Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis Miller) This herb is commonly called as ghritkumari.  Being packed with anti – inflammatory properties, provides relief in piles. Use of this herb is quite good for both internal and external hemorrhoids as it helps to manage the pain, itching and burning sensation.
  • Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica) – This herb is quite good to resolve the digestive health complications. It supports the good stomach health. Being laxative in properties it helps to resolve the problem of constipation.



1. Sanjivani Vati

This herbal product is a blend of various herbs which are listed below-

  1. Vidanga (Embelia ribes)
  2. Ginger root (Zingiber officinale)
  3. Pippali (Piper longum)
  4. Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)
  5. Amlaki (Emblica officinalis)
  6. Vacha (Acorus calamus)
  7. Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia)
  8. Shuddh Bhallataka (Semecarpus anacardium)
  9. Shuddh vastnabh (Aconitum ferox)

USES: Herbs given above are used in the formulation of Sanjivani vati. It is very useful herbal remedy for the treatment of piles as it helps to extrude all the toxins from body.

DOSE: 2 tablets thrice in a day with water after meals.

2. Kachnaar Guggul

This product is the combination of various herbs which are listed below:

  • Kachnar bark (Bauhina variegate)
  • Amlaki (Emblica officinalis)
  • Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)
  • Bibhitaki  (Terminalia bellerica)
  • Ginger (Zingiber officinale)
  • Black pepper (Piper nigrum)
  • Pippali (Piper longum)
  • Varuna (Crataeva religiosa)

BENEFITS: These herbs altogether help to balance the tridosha in the body which are main cause of pile. They help to provide the relief in the symptoms associated with piles like lump formation around anus, rectal bleeding, redness, soreness and swelling around anus.

DOSE: 2 tablets thrice a day with water after meals.

3. Cap. Pile OFF

As the name of this herbal remedy suggests that this product is meant to eliminate the piles problem from root. It is combination of different herbs which are given below:

  • Haridra (Curcuma longa)
  • Trikatu (Ginger, Long pepper, Black pepper)
  • Sajjikshaar (Sodium bicarbonate)
  • Nagkeshar (Mesua ferrea)
  • Chotiharar (Terminalia chebula)

DOSE: 2 capsules twice daily with water after meals.

4. Vara Churna

It is the combination of three herbs named as Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Bhibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica) and Amlaki (Emblica officinalis). All these herbs help to resolve problem of constipation and eliminate accumulated toxins from body.

DOSE: 1 teaspoonful twice daily with warm water after meals.
