What Is The Natural Treatment For Plague Bacteria (Black Death)?

Plague is a serious bacterial infection that is caused by a bacteria named Yersiniapestis. In earlier times it was also known as black death. This bacteria is mainly found inrodents, mainly rats and fleas which feed on these rats are the main modes of transmission of the infection. Humans and other animals get this infection from the bite of the infected rat or flea.

It was called black death as this infection destroyed many civilizations of Europe in ancient times. Plague affects usually people living in rural areas of Asia, Africa, and the USA. However, as compared to medieval times, its occurrence has decreased significantly. But this is a fatal disease that if not treated on time can cause the death of the patient. There are different types of Plague, most common of them is bubonic plague which affects lymph nodes of neck, groin, and armpits. Deadliest of them affects the lungs and can spread from one person to another.

Incidences and risk of plague have decreased a lot as only a few thousands of cases come into the light, throughout the world. Some factors like overcrowded rural or semi-rural areas where there are poor hygienic conditions and bad sanitation increase the risk of plague. Veterinary doctors have also a high risk of developing this disease as they might come in contact with infected dogs or other animals during their practice.

Plague if not treated timely and properly can cause many complications like gangrene, meningitis, and death.

TYPES OF PLAGUE

1. Bubonic Plague

As said above it is the most common type of plague and as the name suggests swollen lymph nodes (buboes) isthe main sign of it. Common signs and symptoms of this disease are:

Swollen lymph nodes or buboes in neck, armpit or groin. They may be as big as the egg of chicken and are firm and painful to touch. There may also be some generalized symptoms like chills, fever, fatigue, weakness, headache and muscle aches.

2. Septicemic Plague

When the infectious bacteria grow and multiply in your bloodstream it causes septicemic plague presenting with signs and symptoms like chills, fever, pain in the abdomen, profound weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, bleeding under skin, from nose, mouth or rectum, shock and gangrene formation in toes, fingers, and nose.

3. Pneumonic Plague

As the name suggests this type of plague affects lungs and it is a rare one but the most dangerous. Pneumonic plague is communicable and can spread from one person to others through droplets during cough. Signs and symptoms include cough, hemoptysis (bloody sputum), nausea, vomiting, headache, high-grade fever, weakness and pain in the chest. It spreads with great speed and can infect the whole respiratory system within 2-3 days resulting in failure of the respiratory system and eventually shock. It is fatal if not treated timely.

HOW IS PLAGUE TRANSMITTED?

The infecting bacteria Y.pestis is found in rodents, specifically rats and sometimes in dogs. Other animals like rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, voles, and mice may be the source of infection. The Incidence of most of the cases of plague are caused by the bite of an infected animal or flea which fed on infected animals. Only the pneumonic plague in all of them is communicable and can be transmitted from person to person.

Other than a bite from an infected animal, broken skin of a person can cause infection when it comes in contact with the blood of an infected animal.

WHAT IS THE AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVE OF PLAGUE?

Plague is a bacterial infection which is first manifested by swollen lymph nodes so according to Ayurveda, the Rasdhatu (lymph) is vitiated that causes lymph nodes to be swollen, firm and tender. This rasdhatu then vitiates Vayu which carries it to various parts of the body producing various signs and symptoms.

As per Ayurveda for the treatment of plague, this vitiated dhatu and Vatadosha are to be treated. Herbal remedies, dietary and lifestyle changes are used to treat plague naturally.

Planet Ayurveda, the best clinic for Ayurvedic treatment comes up with the specific herbal remedies which help to treat this disease naturally and completely. All the natural medicines are made using the best quality of herbs, under the strict supervision of Dr.Vikram Chauhan (MD - Ayurveda), an Ayurveda expert. Herbal Remedies for Fish Odour Syndrome (Trimethylaminuria) - Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis & Treatment

Fish Odour Syndrome (Trimethylaminuria) is a metabolic disorder that occurs when the body of a person is unable to break down trimethylaminuria which is a nitrogen containing compound. The compound trimethylaminuria is produced by the intestines and has a fishy odour. It is produced when certain types of food such as eggs, legumes, fish etc. are eaten.

As a result, trimethylamine starts accumulating in the body and is released in the sweat, reproductive fluids like vaginal fluids, urine and breath which leads to its characteristic odour. This unpleasant odour leads to social and psychological problems in individuals. This condition is more commonly found in women.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF FISH ODOUR SYNDROME?

  • In some people, fish odour syndrome occurs in people who do not have changes in both copies of FMO3 gene. In such cases, trimethylaminuria may be caused by the high levels of trimethylaminuria due to the presence of more trimethylamine producing bacteria in the gut.
  • Due to a diet rich in foods that create trimethylamine as they are metabolised.
  • Heredity: It is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner. If the parents of a child have trimethylaminuria, then children will be carriers of the faulty gene.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF FISH ODOUR SYNDROME?

The symptoms of fish odour syndrome can sometimes be seen in premature infants as well as in some women at the time of menstruation.

It is characterised by a fishy odour that occurs due to the excess release of trimethylamine in the patient’s sweat, urine, breath.

Some people have constant strong odour while most have a moderate odour that can vary.

In women, the odour may be severe just before or during menstruation.

Factors such as sweating, excessive exercise, stress may also worsen the odour.

DIAGNOSIS

A urine test and genetic testing can be done to confirm the diagnosis.

TREATMENT

According to modern medicine, there is no cure for fish odour syndrome but there are certain ways to reduce the symptoms like avoiding certain foods that contain trimethylamine and by decreasing the dosage of anti-biotics.

Modern treatment includes certain dietary restrictions, use of certain lotions and soaps to remove the secreted trimethylamine on the skin and the use of activated charcoal and copper chlorophyllin and riboflavin supplements.

Ayurvedic Treatment for Harlequin Syndrome - Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis & Herbal Remedies

The body consists of central nervous system which control functions such as sweating, skin flushing, and response of pupil to stimuli. Harlequin syndrome usually occurs due some effects on the automic nervous system which causes hindrance in the performance of various functions performed by central nervous system and further leads to asymmetric sweating and flushing of skin on some parts of the body that includes body parts such as face arms and chest.

COMMON SYMPTOMS

  • Flushing and sweating of the face, neck and upper chest region
  • This mostly occurs due to exposure to heat
  • Tearing of eyes
  • Nasal discharge
  • Abnormal contraction of pupils
  • Weakness in neck muscles
  • Dropping of one side of upper eyelid

DIAGNOSIS

  • Consistent signs and symptoms of the condition can help in the diagnosis so it is done by clinical observation.
  • Sometimes MRI is also suggested by doctors.
  • Tilt table test, orthostatic blood pressure measurement, head-up test, valsalva maneuver, thermoregulatory sweat test, tendon reflex test.
  • In some cases CT scan of the heart and lungs may be suggested by the doctor.

TREATMENT

There isn’t any specific treatment regimen for the condition. Surgical intervention is recommended is certain cases. When it’s possible for the doctor to spot the impaired nerve, then the damage can be rectified. In this process, a stellate ganglion block is conducted. For the stellate ganglion block, a local anesthetic is administered; it has been proved that this technique can reduce the duration and the intensity of the symptoms of the harlequin syndrome. Though this technique is rather new, is is quite effective in the management of the disorder.

As we know that there is no particular scientific treatment for this problem also, this can only be cured with the help of natural medicines that are made from herbs.

This problem can only be cured through natural herbal remedies. Planet Ayurveda is known for offering effective herbal treatment for a number of diseases. Ayurvedic Treatment for Esophageal Varices - Symptoms, Diagnosis & Herbal Remedies

ESOPHAGEAL VARICES: OVERVIEW

'Esophageal varices' is a medical term used for describing abnormal, swollen veins in the lower part of the Esophagus --- the tube connecting the throat and the stomach. The occurrence of Esophageal varices is mostly associated with serious/advanced liver diseases.

Esophageal varices can be described as a condition of extremely dilated sub-mucosal portal veins (the veins supplying blood to the liver) in the lower portion of the Esophagus. These veins become abnormally enlarged due to the blockage of normal blood flow to the liver because of a clot or scar tissue in the liver. As a result of the blockage, the blood flows into smaller blood vessels (including vessels in the esophagus) which surround the varices but do not have the capability to carry large amounts of blood.

Esophageal varices can potentially trigger life-threatening bleeding if they rupture or leak blood. The risk of bleeding in people suffering from Esophageal varices increases due to 'portal hypertension' -- that is, excessive pressure of blood in the portal veins -- which commonly occurs in case of Cirrhosis or other severe liver conditions. Besides liver diseases, portal hypertension can also occur in a condition called portal vein thrombosis, in which blood clots are formed inside the portal veins.

Generally, the chances of bleeding are higher if varices are excessively enlarged. Bleeding is an emergency which needs to be treated urgently because uncontrolled bleeding can be fatal.

SYMPTOMS OF ESOPHAGEAL VARICES

There are usually no symptoms of Esophageal varices until the veins start bleeding. The most common indications of the onset of bleeding due to Esophageal varices include:

  • Vomiting, with significant amounts of blood (Hematemesis)
  • Bloody, tar-like or blackish stools
  • Pain in the stomach
  • Light-headedness of loss of consciousness
  • Signs of ‘Shock’ (in severe cases), with pale, sweaty skin, and breathing irregularities.

Since the symptoms of Esophageal varices are noticeable only after the onset of bleeding of the affected veins, the condition can result in alarming low blood pressure because of loss of blood, and can lead to multiple organ damage.

DIAGNOSIS OF ESOPHAGEAL VARICES

For initial diagnosis of Esophageal varices, doctors mostly ask the patients about their symptoms, and carry out a physical examination. To confirm the diagnosis, the doctors perform some tests which may include:

  • Blood tests: for evaluating blood cell count as well as liver and kidney function
  • CT scan, MRI scan and other Imaging tests: to check the blood flow in and around the liver and abdominal organs
  • Endoscopy: to take a closer look at dilated veins and affected organs, and also to take tissue samples and treat bleeding.

TREATMENT OF ESOPHAGEAL VARICES

The line of treatment for Esophageal varices involves the use of medical procedures to stop bleeding, the use of beta blocker drugs, and even liver transplant (in rare cases).

To manage Esophageal varices in a natural manner, Ayurvedic remedies can be very beneficial. Renowned Ayurvedic experts at herbal manufacturing company Planet Ayurveda have prepared some extremely effective herbal formulations for managing Esophageal varices. These herbal formulations are:

Role of Curcumin in Arthritis and Joint Pains

ARTHRITIS AND JOINT PAINS: OVERVIEW

Arthritis is a kind of joint disorder which causes chronic inflammation in one or more joints of the body. The literal meaning of the word ‘Arthritis’ -- derived from two Greek words -- is joint (‘artho’) and inflammation (‘itis’).

Since Arthritis is a condition which affects the joints (that is, the connections between the bones), Arthritis generally leads to pain, and is often a debilitating disorder. There are more than 100 forms of Arthritis, with Osteoarthritis -- which is a degenerative joint disease -- being the most common form of this disorder. Besides Osteoarthritis, the other common forms of Arthritis are Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, and related autoimmune diseases. The causes of different forms of Arthritis are different, but the symptoms of the disorders and their treatments are almost the same.

Joint pains, meanwhile, refer to a condition in which an individual undergoes a lot of pain due to any damage to the joints, resulting from some kind of injury or disease. Since joints connect the bones and support the movement of the body, pain in joints can lead to swelling; and can be a mildly irritating condition in short-term, and a debilitating condition in chronic cases.

Joint pain can result from several diverse health conditions which can include Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Septic arthritis, as well as gout, bursitis, strains, sprains, and other injuries. Although joint pains can affect any part of the body, pain in the knees is the most common form of joint pains, followed by pain in the shoulders and the hips.

Overall, Arthritis is a condition in which the sufferers mostly experience pain in the joints, because of inflammation. Arthritis and joint pains have become increasingly more common disorders affecting the aging population all over the world. Both the conditions can cause pain and discomfort to the sufferers and affect their quality of life.

CURCUMIN: ITS THERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL

Curcumin is the yellow pigment which is isolated from the rhizomes of the ‘Haridra’ herb (Curcuma longa). The herb is commonly called Turmeric in English, and Haldi in Hindi.

Curcumin is the main biologically active phytochemical compound in Turmeric powder. The percentage of Curcumin in the chemical composition of Turmeric is nearly 5 percent. However, for research purposes, the terms Turmeric and Curcumin are usually used interchangeably.

In Ayurveda, the medicinal value of Turmeric/Curcumin has been widely known for centuries. As a result of its anti-inflammatory properties in particular, turmeric has been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines since ancient times. The Curcumin compound in turmeric is very beneficial in fighting excessive inflammation and relieving joint pains.

Research has revealed that Curcumin has noteworthy therapeutic outcomes because it is a highly pleiotropic molecule with an exceptional safety profile. The potency of Curcumin in managing several inflammatory diseases and treating joint pains has been proven on the basis of strong molecular evidence which has been published, based on the results of years of research.

The therapeutic potential of Curcumin has specifically been highlighted in recent researches which show that Curcumin can be extremely useful in suppressing the excessive inflammation which causes the breaking down of a healthy tissue inside a joint. Specifically in the case of disorders like Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis, Curcumin has been proven to counteract the inflammatory compound COX-2, which is also the target of the prescription drugs for the two conditions. Moreover, along with regulating COX-2, Curcumin also acts on interleukin 1-beta stimulated nitric oxide, interleukin 6, interleukin 8, prostaglandin E2, and a few more tissue-destructive immune chemicals which are the causative factors behind the destructive process of both the above-mentioned forms of Arthritis.

ROLE OF CURCUMIN IN ARTHRITIS AND JOINT PAINS

Curcumin is considered an excellent natural remedy for Arthritis and joint pains. The effectiveness of Curcumin in managing inflammatory disorders and painful joints has been proven to a great extent in several scientific and clinical studies which have been carried out over the last few decades. Most of these studies have focused on the potential of Curcumin for treating a number of pathological conditions.

The use of Turmeric/Curcumin has been found to be extremely beneficial in tackling the following common characteristics of Arthritis and painful joints:

  • Swelling in joints
  • Muscle ache
  • Fatigue
  • Stiffness of joints
  • Inability to move/use the limb properly
  • Loss of flexibility of limbs and other affected body parts.

Curcumin Capsules of Planet Ayurveda are packed with standardized extract of Curcumin, a principal compound of turmeric.

The benefits of Turmeric/Curcumin have also been noted for bringing about a potential reduction in the subjective experience of pain in muscular disorders and some other diseases. A few studies have also evaluated the effectiveness of turmeric extracts in treating musculoskeletal diseases.

In the last few years, there can been an appreciable increase in the use of Curcumin/Turmeric for providing relief to patients suffering from various ailments, including chromic and long-term diseases. The efficacy of Turmeric has especially been noteworthy in relieving joint pains and Arthritis.

Some of the benefits of Curcumin/Turmeric in managing Arthritis and joints pains have been listed below:

  • Curcumin/Turmeric can reduce inflammation because of its anti-inflammatory properties
  • It is a proven antioxidant
  • It can target a range of arthritic and associated disorders
  • The use of Curcumin/Turmeric is very effective in autoimmune conditions
  • It is known to possesses anti-arthritic activity

Curcumin also keeps destructive inflammatory chemicals in check. In addition, Curcumin has proven ability to stimulate the growth of healthy replacement tissue and to stir up a process known as 'chondrogenesis' which facilitates the rebuilding of joints in conditions like Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis.
