INTRODUCTION

When there is a decrease in a platelet count it will lead to immune thrombocytopenic purpura. As a result, there is a decrease in the functioning of the immune system which decreases the quality of life. The symptoms are mild to severe depending upon the severity of the disease. Due to the destruction of platelet cells, there is an abnormality in blood clotting as a result there is more loss of blood from the body which hampers the functions of the body. Platelet plays an important role in the body as it helps in hemostasis, helps in clot retraction and formation, repair injured blood vessels, and improve the immunity of the body.

CAUSES

The autoimmune is the only cause of the disease. There are some risk factors which are responsible for the disease. The risk factors include-

Evans syndrome, ITP (Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura) & Ayurvedic Treatment

EVANS SYNDROME: OVERVIEW

Evans syndrome is a very rare autoimmune disorder which is marked by abnormally low levels of platelets, red blood cells, and/or white blood cells in the body. The alarmingly low levels of these blood cells are a result of the production of antibodies by the immune system of the affected individual's body. These antibodies mistakenly destroy the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.

Individuals affected by Evans syndrome typically experience two main conditions:

  1. Thrombocytopenia (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura or ITP, for instance) which refers to low levels of platelets;
  2. Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) which refers to premature destruction of red blood cells. In addition, they may also experience another condition called Neutropenia, which refers to low levels of certain white blood cells known as neutrophils.

Evans syndrome is generally defined as the association of AIHA together with ITP; with Neutropenia not occurring very often. In the affected individuals, the antibodies produced by the immune system may destroy the body's own red blood cells and platelets either simultaneously (at the same time) or sequentially (with one condition developing before the other).

The common symptoms of low levels of circulating red blood cells (anaemia) include fatigue, pale skin color, light-headedness, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, dark-colored urine, and yellowing of skin (jaundice); while the symptoms of ITP or low levels of platelets commonly include appearance of small reddish/purple spots on the skin, larger purplish discoloration on the skin, purpura (a purple rash), and susceptibility to bruising even after minor injuries.

EVANS SYNDROME: TREATMENT

Timely treatment of Evans syndrome is very important because the condition can eventually lead to life-threatening complications, including sepsis, incidents of severe bleeding, and heart failure or other cardiovascular problems.

For the safe and effective management of Evans syndrome, Planet Ayurveda herbal manufacturing company offers some extremely beneficial herbal products which are prepared from 100% pure and natural herbs, under the guidance of renowned Ayurveda experts. These herbal products include:

It is characterized by purplish rashes on lower legs and buttocks and it may also cause abdominal pain and aching of joints. It may affect any age but it is more common in children.

What are the causes of Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP)?

HSP is the problem of immune system which commonly occurs after previous infection. It is the most commonly occurring problem in spring season and follows infection of respiratory tract such as cold.

In this condition, immune system is activated to produce antibody named IgG which mainly targets blood vessels and causes inflammation of blood vessels. This condition is called Vasculitis. Other causes may include drugs, food or insects.

Ayurvedic Outlook

There are three main energies (vata, pitta and kapha) in the body which are responsible for good health. Imbalance of any three results in health complications. As per Ayurveda, HSP is due to imbalance of pitta in body which results in vitiation of rakta dhatu and mansa dhatu.
