How to Lose Weight in 30 days with safe Ayurvedic treatment?

The late hibernal season can be synonymous with weight loss goals. The impending pandemic has brought about a stay-at-home routine that left us all pleasing ourselves with food and inventive cooking binges. The fallout of all these being more people overblown with obesity and associated disturbances. This has brought about an immense demand for weight loss routines and plans. Obesity and related disorders have become a huge concern like never before. On that account, the Ayurvedic approach towards weight loss is gaining huge interest.

AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVE OF OBESITY

Ayurveda insists that the derangement of Kapha dosha is the lead cause of obesity. Those with Kapha dominant constitution are more likely to be obese than those with Vata or Pitta predominance. Acharya Caraka described obesity to be one among the undesired conditions of the body. It occurs when a surge in Kapha dosha is associated with a hindrance to fat metabolism.

Weight loss

According to Ayurveda, weight gain is a patterned process. The foremost affective factor towards weight gain is disturbance to the digestive fire caused from one’s dietary and lifestyle habits. This leads to improper digestion and eventually causes accumulation of toxins within the body system. The natural metabolism is hampered and as a result of which, more fatty tissues are formed within the body. There is a surge in Kapha dosha. Further ahead, the accumulated toxins occlude the body channels that results in Vata imbalance. This triggers the digestive fire, which further leads to increased appetite, contributing even more to obesity. The root cause for all of this may be attributed to weak fat metabolism and deranged digestive fire.

AYURVEDIC APPROACH TOWARDS WEIGHT LOSS

According to Ayurvedic principles, prevention and management of diseases depends largely on body weight management. That being the case, Ayurveda put forth a sustainable, person centric and holistic approach towards weight loss, the approach being dependent on an individual’s state of health, mental and emotional well-being, dietary and lifestyle habits. The root cause of weight gain is addressed along with associated complications. Following an Ayurvedic dietary and lifestyle regime adds to the outcome. All these concomitantly being Ayurveda’s edge in attaining the weight loss goals.

MAKE HEALTH A PRIORITY

The lead cause of obesity is lifestyle disorders like Type 2 Diabetes, Kidney disorders, Cardiac diseases, etc. So, the initial step towards weight loss must be to bring the lifestyle disorders under control so that the body's metabolism functions without error. This can be made possible through a proper dietary and lifestyle regime.

DIETARY REGIME TO BE FOLLOWED

Specific dietary regime varies according to the individual body constitution. However, an Ayurvedic weight loss must always be Kapha- pacifying that is low in fat and calories. Include more light, warm, pungent and astringent foods in the diet. Focus on a diet that is rich in proteins so that one can attain early satiety. Oily and sweet foods must be avoided. Wheat, barley, millets, oats, etc always aids in weight loss and can be included in the diet. High fibre containing leafy vegetables are a must. Try including carrots, broccoli, lentils and legumes. Apples, pears, and berries are also a fitting choice. Incorporate warming spices like pepper, ginger, cardamom, cumin, etc. in the diet. Use churned buttermilk instead of yoghurt. Avoid junk foods and canned foods. Caffeinated and aerated drinks must also be refrained from. Having warm water early in the morning with honey or lemon on an empty stomach aids in detoxification. Take meals at regular intervals and avoid intermittent snacking. Eat in moderate portion sizes. Sip hot water regularly as hot water is an elixir that assists in detoxification.

LIFESTYLE REGIME TO BE FOLLOWED

Proper sleep is of paramount importance. Try avoiding daytime sleep as that can lead to a surge in the Kapha dosha. Make daily exercise and meditation a habit. Exercise makes the body light and boosts up the energy levels. It also helps in beating other pathologies of the body system. It is equally important to focus on stress reduction while you are on a weight loss lifestyle regime. Stress and strain of body and mind always exacerbates weight gain. Avoid smoking and intake of alcohol as they may derange the body functions. Get rid of all the sedentary habits and be more active and happy.

YOGA FOR WEIGHT LOSS

Regular practicing of yoga and meditations can be of great help towards weight loss. Yoga boosts up the body's metabolism and ultimately aids in weight loss. Follow specific asanas like Surya Namaskar (Sun salutation), Bhujangasana (Cobra pose), Paschimottanasana (Back stretching pose), Trikonasana (Triangle pose), etc. Breathing exercises like Kapal Bhati (Shining skull breathing), Nadi Shodhana (Alternate nostril breathing), Bhastrika (Bellow breathing), etc. are also beneficial towards weight loss.

The therapies that exclusively work towards weight loss are Udhvartana (herbal powder massage), Mardana (Dry massage), Swedana (Herbal steam bath), Abhyanga (Oil massage), Virechana (Therapeutic purgation), Vasti (Therapeutic enema), etc. Massaging with herbal powders alleviates the fat tissues. The oils employed in oil massage opens up the clogged pores in the body. This further increases the body temperature and augments the fat metabolism.

Obesity Ayurvedic Treatment - Herbal Remedies for Weight Loss

AYURVEDIC REMEDIES FOR OBESITY – A DISEASE OF THE AFFLUENTS

In ancient Ayurvedic text – Charak Samhita, obesity is described as one of the conditions which is very much undesirable and leads to many complications of health. It's called "Medoroga" in ayurveda. Med is referred to as adipose tissue.

Central obesity is a condition in which the adipose tissue is deposited more around the abdominal area. This condition is more dangerous than the generalized obesity.

Imagine a small piece of land which needs to be properly irrigated to get proper yield.

So to irrigate it we need a water pump with adequate horse power motor to irrigate that piece of land. but imagine if that piece of land keeps growing but the horse power of our pump remains the same. What will happen? The motor will fail ultimately.

Similarly, God has put a very good and strong pump in our chest (heart) to irrigate all over body organs with essential nutrients through blood, but when we grow bigger in size, the heart is pushed to it's limits and ultimately it gets enlarged and starts to fail. The natural motor - the heart gives up as it is not able to pump the blood with full force anymore leading to it's failure.

According to Ayurveda - Obesity or being overweight is a serious health wizard putting extra burden not only on heart but also puts extra strain on liver, kidneys and weight bearing joints such as hips, knees and ankles. Obesity is the leading cause of many problems like coronary heart disease, heart failure, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, gout, liver and gall bladder disorders. There are many herbs and ayurvedic methods which can help in reducing the body weight.

Generally, the reason for over weight is over eating and sedentary lifestyle. So modification in diet is required to loose weight. I never recommend that you should go for fasting at all. Starving or fasting will rob the body of essential nutrients and necessary fuel it needs. We rather encourage you to eat in moderation at regular intervals without missing your meals.

Mild to moderate exercise is also recommended to burn the deposited calories. Brisk walk, cyclying, jogging, swimming, playing tennis etc. are excellent ways to loose weight.

It is clearly written in Ayurveda that it is easy to cure an underweight person for his ailments rather than obese patients.

The excessive fat also blockes channels thereby preventing the nutrition and medicines to reach different cells.

It lowers down the blood cholesterol levels as well as act as a best anti-ageing remedy. It removes excessive fat deposits from within the body and helps to loose weight.

Constipation is another reason for being overweight, as it leads to blockage of channels. So constipation should also be taken care of in case of obesity.
