We often feel a lack of energy at some instances like post sports, travel or some heavy task but this energy is generally restored after taking rest for sometime. And we again become ready for action, this tells us how energy is important in our lives. To lead a healthy and a productive life one needs to be energetic so that he/she can carry on with the daily tasks efficiently. What if, due to some reasons the energy level goes down and does not come up again for days, or weeks and in the worst cases for months. It will be a mess, right? This is what happens in chronic fatigue syndrome. We are going to learn more about this in our article today.

Though both sexes are affected, women are more susceptible to develop chronic fatigue syndrome. Common age of occurrence is 40s and 50s.

DIAGNOSIS
The diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome is difficult as this mimics some of the other conditions also, like sleep disorders, muscular disorders. This is why the diagnosis needs to be made very carefully. A patient presenting in the opd with the above mentioned complaints will be questioned for the intensity and history of the symptoms. The prominent symptom of this condition is tiredness which is not relieved by rest and should be present for at least 6 months which is also associated with weakening of memory and lack of concentration.
TREATMENT IN ALLOPATHY
Unfortunately, there is no specific treatment available in allopathy for chronic fatigue syndrome. It is only managed with the help of painkillers, sedatives and physiotherapy.
AYURVEDIC POINT OF VIEW
Life is seen with a different and a unique angle in Ayurveda. It is seen beyond the physical plane, that is more than merely organs, organ system and so on. So, the question arises that what is there beyond the physical plane? It is the energy which is running the life on the physical plane. This energy is a combination of two of the five basic elements which composes the body i.e Air, Space, Fire, Water and Soil. There are three energies known as doshas which co-exist in a living being Vata, Pitta and Kapha dosha in an equilibrium state. Disease does not occur until this balance of energies doesn't get disturbed. Therefore the real cause of any disease in Ayurveda is vitiation of one of these doshas. In chronic fatigue syndrome, the responsible dosha is Vata dosha. Therefore, the treatment plan should be aiming at the pacification of the same.
