Herbal Remedies for Pearly Penile Papules (Hirsuties Coronae Glandis)

PEARLY PENILE PAPULES: AN OVERVIEW

Pearly penile papules -- also called 'Hirsuties coronae glandis' -- is a physical condition which mostly affects males who are uncircumcised. In this condition, small, flesh-colored bumps which appear circumferentially around the ridge of the glans, that is, the 'head' of the penis.

Pearly penile papules is an entirely normal and asymptomatic condition, in which the small protuberances formed on the ridge of the glans may simply be an anatomical or skin variation that does not cause any health complications.

The onset of Pearly penile papules is mostly reported by uncircumcised males in the age-group of 20-40 years; and this condition is estimated to be present in approximately 25 percent of adult males. The bumps around the penis head are smooth, dome-like protuberances which may appear in several circular rows. The size of these bumps -- in length -- may range from less than 1 millimeter to nearly 3 millimeters.

Pearly penile papules is a physical condition, and not a disease in itself. This condition is neither infectious nor contagious -- it cannot be transmitted from one individual to another -- and it does not pose any health risk to the affected males or their potential sexual partners.

However, an effective solution for Pearly penile papules is recommended if the condition causes any psychological stress to the affected males, especially in terms of loss of self-esteem because of fear of rejection by his sexual partner, or apprehensions about losing virility.

CAUSES AND SYMPTOMS OF PEARLY PENILE PAPULES

There is no clear explanation about the causes of Pearly penile papules since this condition is not categorised as a disease. The bumps around the head of the penis are considered as a special anatomical growth, which is not specific only to humans. The genitals of several animals and insects also have small protuberances or spikes on them.

So far as the symptoms of Pearly penile papules are concerned, the sole symptom of this condition is the appearance of the small, harmless bumps along the edge of the penis head, because of which there is no discomfort to the affected males.

DIAGNOSIS OF PEARLY PENILE PAPULES

To diagnose Pearly penile papules, a dermatologist or similarly trained physician may carry out a 'differential diagnosis', which means that the possibility of other conditions related to the penis is eliminated.

With the help of the 'differential diagnosis' process, the diagnosis of Pearly penile papules can be confirmed, after the elimination of alternative conditions like molluscum contagiosum, condyloma acuminata (genital warts), lichen nitidus, and ectopic sebaceous glands.

DEALING WITH PEARLY PENILE PAPULES

Medications, treatments or unnecessary procedures for removing the bumps on the head of the penis are generally not required by males affected by Pearly penile papules because this condition does not present any health risk, and it never hinders the normal functioning of the sexual organs. Any expensive surgery for treating this condition may adversely affect a man's psychological health because the penis is an important male organ which performs vital functions, such as reproduction. Therefore, Pearly penile papules should be dealt with in the right manner.
