INSOMNIA AND OTHER SLEEP DISORDERS
Insomnia is a sleep disorder in which person finds it difficult to fall or stay asleep. Insomnia is known as Anidra in Ayurveda. In Ayurveda, insomnia is a condition that is caused by degradation of the Vata dosha. Insomnia may be due to some health conditions such as asthma, depression, arthritis, cancer, heartburn etc.

Vata, pitta and kapha are the three doshas that regulate all physical functions of our body. Proper functioning of kapha results in healthy sleep. Raja and tama are the qualities of mind which are also responsible for healthy sleep in which an increase in raja due to stress is responsible for an interrupted sleep and early waking.
